Kid’s Clay & Cartoon Day is an annual event of classes scheduled each year on Father’s Day Weekend. Come check out the 2012 Kid’s Clay & Cartoon Day!

Ceramics (Ages 6-9)

FUN WITH CLAY!
Have fun experimenting with some of the creative things you can do with clay. Enjoy making pinch pots and coil pots.
Ceramics (Ages 10-14)

PLAYING WITH CLAY!
For kids ages 10-14, this fun filled ceramic class is designed for kids to come in and get a feel for working with clay! Kids will learn some of the basics and let their creativity run wild. Students will make and design their own platter and try throwing on the wheel!
Cartoons (10 & up)
Micah Acord
A COMIC WORKSHOP
Learn to tell your story through art! This class will talk about cartoons, comics, and sequential art and will cover the entire process of a graphic novel page, from thumbnailing, penciling, lettering and inking with most of the attention focused on penciling and inking.
Classes will cost $25 each, all materials included.
2011 Kids Creativity Jubilee
Two-hour classes for ages 5-7, 8-10, &11-14 in pottery, printmaking, fused glass, pop-up books, and ornamental metals! Download our Kids Creativity Jubilee brochure and registration form or go to our online catalog to register.
All materials are included in class tuition.
Pop-up Books
with Katherine Devine
3 Sessions, one each for ages 5-7, 8-10, & 11-14
$20 per student per session
Kids can join Floyd favorite, Katherine Devine, in learning to make 3-dimensional pop-up books. Katherine’s wonderful technique can be applied not only as a fun creative expression, but kids can use pop-up books to help explore any academic discipline as well.
Ornamental Metals
with Darcy Meeker
2 Sessions, one each for ages 8-10 & 11-14
$27 per student per session
Kids in this great new addition to our Jubilee will get to create a beautiful copper or aluminum ornament contained within a hand-made note card. They will get to texture and paint until each ornament is a unique expression and gift.
Ceramic Sculpture
with Sidra Kaluszka
3 Sessions, one each for ages 5-7, 8-10, & 11-14
$20 per student
Sculpt and play with one of the world’s oldest and most loved mediums: clay. Students in this class will learn handbuilding techniques for creative sculptural art. Traditional methods such as pinching, coiling, and slab building will be explored and can be used at home.
Students in the pottery classes will have the opportunity to register for a follow-up class on Saturday, June 26th, where they can paint their fired pieces! Registration for this follow-up class will take place on the 18th.
Fused Glass Sun Catchers
with Susie Pool
3 Sessions, one each for ages 5-7, 8-10, & 11-14
$25 per student per session
Back by popular demand! Create a beautiful glass 6×6” tile or suncatcher. Students will learn how to use glass safely, the basic design principles of fusing, and how to use all the tools! Students of each age group will design and create their own mosaic or picture tile or suncatcher. Great gifts for Father’s Day!
The center will fuse the pieces for pick-up on Saturday, June 25th.
Printmaking
with Sarah Reyburn
3 Sessions, one each for ages 5-7, 8-10, & 11-14
$18 per student per session
Students will have the opportunity to create original and colorful works of art in this print-making class. They will make mono-prints using a variety of found and made objects and gain an understanding of the use of negative and positive space while designing simple and more complex compositions. Kids will also create “white line” prints and single color reproduction prints.

Healthy snacks provided throughout the day, with time to stretch the legs and run off some steam between sessions.
Walk-ins are welcome, however, we will cancel classes on Friday June 3rd that do not have the required minimum enrollment. So, register early to ensure that your class goes.
