German Christmas Cocktail Party

Gift yourself a unique Holiday Experience.

Join us December 15th, 2013.

Germany and Virginia join hands to celebrate the holiday season in a fundraising event to support programs of The Jacksonville Center for the Arts. On December 15 from 4-7 German natives Clemens and Barbara von Claparède-Crola will open their Floyd home, “Eulenhof” to guests wishing to celebrate the Christmas season in the German tradition.

In Germany, Weihnachten (Christmas) is a holiday rich in simple traditions:

  • baking a gingerbread house
  • displaying advent calendars
  • decorating with hand-made ornaments & fresh greenery
  • singing traditional German Christmas carols*
  • sharing German culinary delights

Abbie Priest will perform selected German Christmas Carols. Priest is a Floyd High School graduate attending VA Tech to study Human Development. She is a member of the Tech University choir.

A renowned baker and culinary artist, Barbara von Claparède-Crola will share many of the edible traditions of the Wiehnachten season with guests.
