Our member artists can participate in retail exposure through our on-site gift shop. The buying public have access to one-of-a-kind items for themselves, their homes, or their friends and family. The gift shop, managed by a volunteer group of shop and gallery owners, is staffed by Jacksonville Center employees, so artists can stay in their studios and produce.
The next time you need a special gift for a friend, loved one, or neighbor near or far, come to the Jax gift shop for beautiful and reasonably-priced handcrafted ceramics, metalwork, jewelry, books, framed or matted prints or original two-dimensional works, photographs, hangings, mobiles, suncatchers, soaps, wooden bowls, wearable art, greeting cards, and more. All items are unique and offer an insight into the creator’s style.
And all sales benefit the Jacksonville Center mission and purpose, so come by during open hours and see what inspires you.
Too many retail shops ask their displaying artists to foot a large part of the overhead bills. At the Jacksonville Center, among our services to professional and hobbyist artists is to staff a gift shop and make it available to a buying public during open hours — and you don’t have to mortgage your home to participate. All you must do is become a Jacksonville Center member if you’re not already signed up.
Our front office staffs the shop while you stay in your studio and produce. We ask a 30% commission, in return for which we track sales, manage the inventory, and arrange times when a volunteer committee of retail and gallery owners come and refresh the “look.” This group also juries specific items onto the retail shelves, and our “handmade” policy is in effect for items produced by you for inclusion in the gift shop.
